Perception vs. Reality

So nothing new for the most part. This week is going soooo slowly. Why can't it be Friday? It is in my mind. Perception is reality's equivalent in so many other things, why not this one? Ugh.

Interesting Fact #1:
Thanks to a keen observation, I have realized that I do indeed have the same luggage as April on Eastbound and Down. Fancy that.

Interesting Fact #2:
The Beatles played the Las Vegas Convention Center in 1964. Some 8,500 fans paid just $4 each for tickets. If only, right?

My workout today was alright. It seems to be getting harder though instead of easier and I don't like that one bit. If Missi wasn't doing it with me I don't think I'd be as dedicated. The rest of the week is going to be pretty boring I think. Not doing much until Friday. Tomorrow is April Fool's Day. Hurray (I almost typed 'hurry') for getting to listen to people say dumb stuff and then go "April Fool's". Take note that I will not be believing anything anyone has to say tomorrow so don't even try. Also, my birthday is fast approaching. Any suggestions on what to do?

T-minus 23 days and counting.

Coffee talk

I had a fantastic weekend. I went to Black Tie Dynasty's last concert which was very sad. We were on the front row which was good, but the people behind me were so drunk and kept running into me. That in turn pushed me into the stage and that was not very comfortable. I pushed them back and turned around to glare at them. There was also a gentleman who could NOT hold his liquor. He would lose his balance all of the time and fell towards me quite a few times. There were some worse incidents with this too. I almost lost my cool and turned around and punched him in the face. It was a good concert though. I just think that Rebecca and Junior enjoyed it a bit more because they were by people a bit more behaved. I still had fun though and am definitely glad I went. :) So I went to accounting just now and they were still covering the previous chapter so I just picked up my stuff and came back home. I have made a brilliant discovery though. There is a very strong correlation between the amount of caffeine I drink and accounting. Now I am sitting on the couch watching the news and drinking coffee. They're talking about bacon. I'm changing the channel. I don't have much planned for this week. Just a couple of movie nights I think. Friday I'm going to stay with Lolo (my aunt) I think and take her to her hair appointment Saturday before I have to go to mine. It's a long story, but she's had her license revoked and is fighting it, but in the meantime she can't drive. I'll probably be spending more time with her. Nothing else for the weekend is set yet. So I don't know what I'll be doing. My parents are going to Austin I think. It's about time to go back to class though. Laters.

My boys!

Liverpool 4-0 Real Madrid
Liverpool 4-1 Manchester United
Liverpool 5-0 Aston Villa

Liverpool vs. Fulham is coming up next week. This week world cup qualifying matches are going on. England has their next qualifier next weekend as well. Poor Gerrard is gonna be stretched. Speaking of which, England needs more Liverpool players. The only problem being that several of them are going to their respective home countries. Lame. Skrtel is actually playing for Ukraine I believe in the upcoming England qualifier.

A quote that reflects my feelings to the tee:
"It was fantastic to score three goals (against Villa) but more importantly the win kept the momentum going and meant we stayed on United's shoulders. Chelsea lost as well so it was a fantastic weekend to be a Liverpool player."

Anyway, enough about football. I'm sure no one cares anyway. My allergies are terrible today. Stupid rain and clouds and wind and stuff. I'm watching a show where this crew stole this guy's car with his wife's help and they re-do it all the while pretending that it was stolen. The whole idea bothers me. First off, if I had a car like that that I loved, I would not be happy to learn that it was a prank and my spouse lied to me. Second, I would never do that to someone else because I know how I would feel. Third, I wouldn't want other people working on my car without my direct supervision. That idea would really bother me. And what if I didn't like the changes they made? No, it's just a bad idea overall. This is warning for the future; no one ever do that to me. I would be pissed. This morning I did this stupid advanced yoga for an hour and a half. My balance has declined over the past two years and I fell over several times. I'm sure it would humorous to watch. So Nate, Rebecca, and myself are going to dinner and to see a movie tonight. I was not given an option out. =P Then it's back to the apartment to clean because I desperately need to. Off to shower and then to work.

Becca boo is back!

Rebecca is back from Spring Break!!! Woo! I have someone other than my cat to talk to. :) My stomach hurts from laughing so hard. Check this video out:

Fast forward to about 1:03. There you will find the single greatest moment I have seen on TV in a long time.
Quote: It is music to musician’s ears. “I don’t have a lot of money,” said Simon Stipp. He would love to drop some dough on a vintage guitar. Hahahahaha.

New word I made up: binocuscopes (binoculars + telescopes) For some reason I was thinking of binoculars and it just came out binocuscopes. I think some wires in my brain got mixed up. My workout with Missi was killer. We did synergistics today and I am dead. It took me a couple of minutes to make it up the stairs to the apartment. Lol. I had to go lay on the floor in Rebecca's room for a couple of minutes to regain the strength to move. I'm kind of excited about the rain that's supposed to come in. I wish it were greener here. I need to move to Washington. I have something to post, but it's at work so I'll have to post it tomorrow.

~"That is not the American spirit. Did Davy Crockett quit at the Alamo? Did Jim Bowie?"
~"No, they were massacred by like a gazillion angry Mexicans."

Before school

Ugh. This is going to be a quick post before class. I completely agree with how shitty it is when you try to do the right thing and can't. I set my alarm for 6 this morning so I could make it to my 8 am class on time. When I woke up and looked at my alarm clock, guess what time it was...8:05. Fantastic. I'm lucky I woke up when I did so I don't miss my other classes. It just frustrates me.

Isn't it Thursday already?? I need a remote to life.

Big yellow joint

I had a great time this past weekend. It's one of those things you wish didn't have to end. Once I got back I went and picked up Phoenix from the house and brought her up to the apartment. The parents are gone for the week and I didn't want to leave her alone. So now she's curled up on my bed next to me. It's adorable. I loved Where the Wild Things Are as a kid. I'm excited to see it made into a movie. I've been an uber-nerd today. I have a project I'm going to work on. I have several actually, but this is one of them. Here is my list of supplies. See if you can guess what I'm constructing.

-7555 timer chip
-CD4017 counter chip
-47 microfarad, 16 v electrolytic cap
-.22 uF cap
-small signal diodes
-leds
-2N3904 NPN transistor
-proto board
-9v battery snap
-180k, 47k, 330 ohm resistors

Why oh why will my eyes not stop itching? I hate having allergies. I need to speak with my doctor about this. Tomorrow night there's a softball game for work so I'll probably go to that. Maybe bowling after or something. I'm not sure. Anyway, I have stayed up too late as it is. Off to bed. For in dreams, we enter a world that is entirely our own.

Cold, wet, and dreary

Didn't do much last night. Just chilled at the apartment. Nate came over after work and he, Rebecca, and myself ordered pizza and watched Order of the Phoenix. Very relaxing. I cannot tell you how much it annoys me when it rains for the first time in a while. I was up until about 3 because I just couldn't get to sleep. Then it started raining and thundering and that woke me up all night long.

I had been planning on spending Spring Break or at least part of it at home since Rebecca is going to in Houston for part of it. Well I got a call from my mother last night telling me that they are going out of town for Spring Break as well. She said they're going to a basketball tournament in Austin first and then they are heading to Grand Junction, CO. Not cool. I want to go so bad. I haven't been skiing in forever it seems. But alas, I can't take the time off work and I need the money anyway. Mom wants me to continue working part-time, but I think I'm going to go full-time. There's no point in sitting around an empty apartment by myself. Lol. Mom doesn't know that Rebecca's leaving though. Otherwise she would feel super guilty about leaving me I think and I don't want to put that on her. They need to go have a good time. I will, however, lay the guilt trip on thick when they go somewhere for their 25th anniversary this summer. I need to get to planning a party. Mom said she'd kill me, but I don't care. Work in a little bit. Then studying. Oh what an exciting, adventurous life I live during the week!!!

The Finishing Touch

Some things I forgot:

-Bologna sandwiches are much better than knuckle ones

-"hey, who turned out the lights?"

Also, there is something infinitesimally wrong about leaving for school when it is still dark out. This morning was terrible. Although that may have had something to do with not sleeping too.

Rebecca and I had a lovely ice cream dinner tonight. We went to Braums because I got a craving for it. Speaking of cravings, I still want barbecue. This happens about once a year. It's very strange, but I'm sure I will end up going to Spring Creek or something. Who wants to get barbecue with me? Rebecca?? Just kidding! After dinner we went to Half-price Books and I bought two of my favorite children's books: Thundercake and The Rainbabies. I introduced Rebecca to The Rainbabies, but Thundercake is a shared favorite of ours. We read them together out loud and all cute and stuff. :) I also bought an Emmylou Harris record and a ZZ Top record. Then we went elsewhere and I got a surprise. Hahahaha. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Too excited

My excitement is too great for me to write anything worth reading right now. Maybe later. In fact I'm almost as excited as I am in this picture. That is pure happiness right there.

I wish it were a Chelsea morning

I was told last night that I don't update my blog enough and that because of this "some people" don't have anything to read (which is completely ficticious because I know you have my copy of 1984 since I haven't been able to read it) so I'm posting in the early morning. Knock yourself out.

It feels like it is wayyyyy too early to be up even though it's not really that early. I woke up at 6 to finish my stupid paper because it's due today. But now I'm done and just sitting here. I could go back to sleep, but the 15 minutes or so I'd get isn't worth it. Not when I'm already awake and thinking. I had to write a paper on the trial and death of Socrates. Here was my prompt:

How does Socrates describe the individual's role within and against the polis? Does he contradict himself by allowing his own execution to happen or does he offer a valid argument for accepting his fate? How does the fact that he lives in a democracy affect his decision? What would Democritus and the Sophists have thought of Socrates' actions? Your answer should include a thorough discussion of the arguments in the text both for and against accepting his fate, and how they relate to Plato's theory of forms, his views of justice and what constitutes truth, and the individual's relationship to the polis.

This being said, I would have voted to kill Socrates if I had been there. He is probably one of the singlemost annoying people that ever existed. I think just about anyone who has to read the Republic agrees.

Anyway, as I was working on this last night, I got a bit side-tracked. I started talking about how these philosophers were so "ahead of their time." I cringe a bit using that phrase, but there really isn't a good substitute. We then came to the conclusion that religion was one of the primary reasons the world, metaphorically, took a step back. This led to a discussion on religion and spirituality and where we both fall in this category. It's probably not what you would think either, but since I can't tell what you're thinking maybe not. We seriously sat for about 2 hours though and did nothing but talk about this. I didn't even watch 24 last night! (No spoilers or I will hunt you down and hurt you) It's time for me to start getting ready for school. I can't wait for it to warm up again. Running to the shower when I've just woken up never ends well.

Have a magical day!
