In With The New

Look at how adorable my roommate is! This was taken when I went in to her room this morning to rope her into going to workout with me. News!...I am starting the South Beach Diet starting Monday, September 27 and working out every weekday starting now. My goal is to get back in shape and to my old, slightly-less-heavy self again. I am giving myself a month to drop around 15 pounds or so. And to help, I have motivation hanging on my bathroom door taunting me every step of the way. A pair of pants I bought at The Gap which are a size 4. I can't wait to see the new...old...whichever...me.

Just an update: the latch hook rug is progressing much more smoothly thanks to my new little tools!
They work wonders. It is infinitely easier to cut strips of fabric now. Be thankful for the small things in life.

Speaking of being thankful, I got a 92 on my latest Chemistry test! Rocked it's socks so to speak. Or as Ryan so eloquently put it, "stuck [my] foot in and broke it off."

Today was a good day.

States I Have Traveled

I was inspired to create a representation of where I have been in the United States. Now, I am not entirely sure, but I believe I have been to Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri but I didn't want to mark them in case I was wrong. I will have to ask my mother and correct it if it is mislabeled. Anyone up for a trip to the Northeast or Lake Tahoe? I'm not sure there's anything to do in Oklahoma, so I may just skip it and say that I've been there. Who will ever know, right?

The Beginning?

I can sense it. It's just around the corner. The smells, the holidays, and best of all the leaves. Fall is coming and I can't wait! Fall leads to winter and winter means Christmas. And ohhh buddy do I love Christmas! Unfortunately we don't get too much of a fall here in Texas but at least it means we get rid of a lot of the too-revealing clothing that so many of the girls at UTSA enjoy wearing.

I started another project. I know, I know. I think I have about 100 projects laying around that I probably haven't finished yet and I'm starting on more. What can I say, I will finish them all some day. Maybe I should make a list and create a challenge out of finishing them. I am now working on a latch hook rug that I am going to create by dying recycled old white t-shirts. Gives me something to work on while I watch my TV shows though.

Speaking of TV shows, it is the season premier week in television. Thank goodness I have DVR. I don't know what I would do without it. I'm sure I'll get very behind in my series because as unfortunate as it is, studying takes precedent.

Shows I will be watching on a regular basis this season (or as regular as is possible with me):
  • Glee
  • Big Bang Theory
  • House
  • Community
  • Modern Family
  • NCIS
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • The Office
There are a lot of others that look great but I definitely do not have the time. Luckily, most of these shows are less than 30 minutes. But even still, look at how much time a week I would be spending watching TV even if I just watched these shows. 5 1/2 hours a week! 5 1/2 hours for me to work on my projects!

I may be taking a trip up to Cincinnati with Ryan soon. I'm excited. I have never been to Ohio. Maybe I can check off another state from the list. I would get to meet his family and friends and see all of the tourist attractions (hah!). But I may get to go to see Bearcats game. Bound to be interesting since I will be the only one wearing burnt orange. :) In any case, I hope I get to go. I eagerly anticipate the thrill of new adventures!

The thinking woman

School started back yesterday. Only taking 6 hours this semester. Following The Eagles' advice and taking it easy. Physics and Chemistry. That's plenty of work in and of itself. Time to start exercising that all-important muscle again.
"Cheese-tits" and I did indeed make rainbow pancakes. We even expanded a bit to make it one of the most delicious breakfasts I've had in a long time. Take a look:
There have also been some new additions to the apartment. The file cabinet is not quite finished but I did finish my recycled flower can. It looks fantastic on the patio.

A few weeks ago I received a wonderful surprise! I opened my door and there was a huge box sitting there! Ryan's lovely mother knew I needed a bookcase, found one online, and had it sent to me! I absolutely love it and so does Megan.

Sorry for all of the pictures but I'm just so happy. :)

This isn't going to be an extremely long post because I have to get ready to go to school (Chemistry is a night class) but I shall post more of my ideas later. Stay tuned!

Blue Skies

Between school and working full-time I've managed to fit in moving ...TWICE! I am officially sick of it, but have perfected the technique. I've also been able to clean out a lot and get my room to look the way I wish. I'll have to post pictures at some point.

I've been working on a few projects as well trying to get Meg's and my new apartment decorated. My most current include my newly acquired file cabinet/nightstand (pictured above) and a coffee can I painted to use as a recycled planter.

My file cabinet I plan to repaint but still keep black to match the other black accents I have in my room. Hopefully Anthropologie will have some good finds to help spice it up a little.

I think I'll make rainbow pancakes again this weekend! I can't wait!
