In With The New

Look at how adorable my roommate is! This was taken when I went in to her room this morning to rope her into going to workout with me. News!...I am starting the South Beach Diet starting Monday, September 27 and working out every weekday starting now. My goal is to get back in shape and to my old, slightly-less-heavy self again. I am giving myself a month to drop around 15 pounds or so. And to help, I have motivation hanging on my bathroom door taunting me every step of the way. A pair of pants I bought at The Gap which are a size 4. I can't wait to see the new...old...whichever...me.

Just an update: the latch hook rug is progressing much more smoothly thanks to my new little tools!
They work wonders. It is infinitely easier to cut strips of fabric now. Be thankful for the small things in life.

Speaking of being thankful, I got a 92 on my latest Chemistry test! Rocked it's socks so to speak. Or as Ryan so eloquently put it, "stuck [my] foot in and broke it off."

Today was a good day.

States I Have Traveled

I was inspired to create a representation of where I have been in the United States. Now, I am not entirely sure, but I believe I have been to Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri but I didn't want to mark them in case I was wrong. I will have to ask my mother and correct it if it is mislabeled. Anyone up for a trip to the Northeast or Lake Tahoe? I'm not sure there's anything to do in Oklahoma, so I may just skip it and say that I've been there. Who will ever know, right?

The Beginning?

I can sense it. It's just around the corner. The smells, the holidays, and best of all the leaves. Fall is coming and I can't wait! Fall leads to winter and winter means Christmas. And ohhh buddy do I love Christmas! Unfortunately we don't get too much of a fall here in Texas but at least it means we get rid of a lot of the too-revealing clothing that so many of the girls at UTSA enjoy wearing.

I started another project. I know, I know. I think I have about 100 projects laying around that I probably haven't finished yet and I'm starting on more. What can I say, I will finish them all some day. Maybe I should make a list and create a challenge out of finishing them. I am now working on a latch hook rug that I am going to create by dying recycled old white t-shirts. Gives me something to work on while I watch my TV shows though.

Speaking of TV shows, it is the season premier week in television. Thank goodness I have DVR. I don't know what I would do without it. I'm sure I'll get very behind in my series because as unfortunate as it is, studying takes precedent.

Shows I will be watching on a regular basis this season (or as regular as is possible with me):
  • Glee
  • Big Bang Theory
  • House
  • Community
  • Modern Family
  • NCIS
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • The Office
There are a lot of others that look great but I definitely do not have the time. Luckily, most of these shows are less than 30 minutes. But even still, look at how much time a week I would be spending watching TV even if I just watched these shows. 5 1/2 hours a week! 5 1/2 hours for me to work on my projects!

I may be taking a trip up to Cincinnati with Ryan soon. I'm excited. I have never been to Ohio. Maybe I can check off another state from the list. I would get to meet his family and friends and see all of the tourist attractions (hah!). But I may get to go to see Bearcats game. Bound to be interesting since I will be the only one wearing burnt orange. :) In any case, I hope I get to go. I eagerly anticipate the thrill of new adventures!

The thinking woman

School started back yesterday. Only taking 6 hours this semester. Following The Eagles' advice and taking it easy. Physics and Chemistry. That's plenty of work in and of itself. Time to start exercising that all-important muscle again.
"Cheese-tits" and I did indeed make rainbow pancakes. We even expanded a bit to make it one of the most delicious breakfasts I've had in a long time. Take a look:
There have also been some new additions to the apartment. The file cabinet is not quite finished but I did finish my recycled flower can. It looks fantastic on the patio.

A few weeks ago I received a wonderful surprise! I opened my door and there was a huge box sitting there! Ryan's lovely mother knew I needed a bookcase, found one online, and had it sent to me! I absolutely love it and so does Megan.

Sorry for all of the pictures but I'm just so happy. :)

This isn't going to be an extremely long post because I have to get ready to go to school (Chemistry is a night class) but I shall post more of my ideas later. Stay tuned!

Blue Skies

Between school and working full-time I've managed to fit in moving ...TWICE! I am officially sick of it, but have perfected the technique. I've also been able to clean out a lot and get my room to look the way I wish. I'll have to post pictures at some point.

I've been working on a few projects as well trying to get Meg's and my new apartment decorated. My most current include my newly acquired file cabinet/nightstand (pictured above) and a coffee can I painted to use as a recycled planter.

My file cabinet I plan to repaint but still keep black to match the other black accents I have in my room. Hopefully Anthropologie will have some good finds to help spice it up a little.

I think I'll make rainbow pancakes again this weekend! I can't wait!

Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire
Some say in ice
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire
But if I had to perish twice
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great and would suffice
~Robert Frost

Powerful words. I felt like sharing them. I have always wanted to write a book, but lately the feeling has intensified. I have taken to writing down any thoughts or conversations I have with myself in the hope that inspiration will strike, but still I have nothing. Well, I shouldn't say nothing; but very little still. Any ideas for a solution will be greatly appreciated.

The weather has been quite lovely the past few days. The temperature dropped significantly and it has been overcast and rainy. My favorite. It makes me wish I lived somewhere else. If only the cost of living there weren't so darn expensive.

Two weekends ago: Louisiana. Last weekend: Houston. This weekend: Fort Worth. I love seeing my friends but I am ready for a weekend with a chance to relax. I will be glad to see my parents though. I miss them. There's just something about unconditional love that is irresistible. Not to say that we get along in the least. :) I have a hair appointment Saturday afternoon. Then it's off to watch a movie with friends and later The Cutting Edge. Afterward we are going to eat at Ol' South for old times' sake. Bound to be full of adventure for sure. Now if I can simply make it through this week...

My heaven will be a big heaven

I am super stoked about EPL starting back up next week. Liverpool vs. Tottenham on the 16th. I may have to go watch that somewhere. It's just the start of the season so they'll all be starting out easy, but it doesn't matter to me. I'll finally have a decent sport to watch again. My bet's on my Liverpool to win the title. Any takers? We were so close last year only to have victory snatched from our wee hands in the last minutes by the red devils. Only thing that makes me nervous is that Alonso got traded to Madrid and we have Aquilani who is still unproven and untested for the most part. Rafe is a good manager though and I trust his judgement.

On another note, I'm reading a book, Among the Thugs, about Man United fans and football hooliganism. It's a very interesting read and I strongly recommend it. I think that Slaughterhouse Five will be my next undertaking after I finish with this one. I think it will put me over 10 books that I have read this summer. Not too shabby.

I am just about completely moved into the new apartment. It's cute and fits me pretty well I think. I'll take pictures and post them at some point. I have a reading corner in my bedroom. I absolutely adore it. I can just sit in my chair and read the day away if I so choose. My closet is pretty crowded, but I managed to fit everything in.

Marie is coming down tonight. I'm glad because it means a girl to hang out with. It's something I haven't gotten too much of down here yet. My cousin Ally may be coming down Sunday as well. Alex and Rebecca are planning on coming down around the 16th and I'm hanging out with Erin sometime next week. I also got a catering job that will basically let me work the hours I need to work when I can. Should be good for now. I don't really start until the end of the month though. I also don't have to wear a pink bowtie. Thank God. :) Just biding my time till I make it big you know.

End or beginning?

I am currently laying in rebecca's bed updating from my mobile. This evening I single-handedly (Read 'with the help of my mom, dad, brother, rebecca, nate and marie') packed all of my physical possessions into a tahoe, a corrola, and an 8" x 5" uhaul trailer. It's sad to see my apartment so empty and lifeless. I love minimalism but I cannot stand white walls. More than anything though I'm sad to leave Rebecca. We went a year without each other before but it was terrible and we both hated it. This past year has been so great living with her. We both get on each other's nerves sometimes, but we never fight and we always settle our differences very quickly. A girl couldn't ask for a better best friend and roommate.

The last few days have been interesting to say the least. I managed to cram in packing, visiting with friends, and a kid cudi concert. I've gotten aproximately 5 hours of sleep out of the last 70 or so. I will definitely be crashing soon. I'm getting slightly nervous about moving but not nearly as nervous as I should be or would be regularly. I shall update more later with pics of the new apartment and stuff. Wish me luck and good fortune. :)

Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn

Things I've learned today:

- Some things will never completely add up, so there's no point in trying to force it; all we can do is try to understand it to the best of our ability and be open-minded.

- Realization and appreciation are not the same.

- There has been a deluded cougar in our midst and her name is Brandy

3 things. Not too bad for one day. Someone also tried to explain something about baseball to me, but you mention baseball and what I hear starts to sound more like a bee in my ear than anything else. I really should attempt to pay more attention. Unfortunately I just don't care. :)
6 days.

Keeping track of my days

I spent this weekend trying to deal with a migraine. It was a persistent one and would not go away. I didn't set foot outside of my apartment all day Saturday. I had the shades drawn and everything. It looked like the bat cave. I just sat in bed watching movies all day. Ended up going to bed a little after 6 to try to sleep the headache off and woke up this morning at 9. I still had my headache so I took a bunch of medicines and went to my parents' house. I hung around, did a little work on my car (which was caused me to get all sweaty and greasy...no bueno), and jumped in the pool afterwards. I'm getting slightly darker. Slowly but surely. If I weren't couped up in an office for 8 hours a day I would surely be more so. I like being outside. I'm thinking about taking my mountain bike with me to San Antonio. I'd have to find someone to go with me, but surely people down there ride bikes, right? There is only one strictly vegetarian restaurant in SA. It's called Green. I'll have to try it out soon. I already looked up the nearest Central Market, Whole Foods, and Sun Harvest Farms, so I should be ok. I'm stuck watching my mom's hedgehog for the week since she and my dad decided to abandon my brother and I to go to Puerto Rico for their 25th wedding anniversary. Ty and I told them they wouldn't even see us if they brought us along, but they said no. Something about paying for two extra people...idk. It wasn't a good excuse whatever it was. I have to check on their dog and my cat as well. AND I get to watch Missi's two kitties while she's out of town this week. That's 5 animals in my care if I counted correctly. Yikes.

Who wants to pack for me?

Morning routine

Just sitting here in bed on a Saturday morning checking my sites and drinking coffee. Only thing that is missing...my best friend.

In the air tonight

Watched the Hangover tonight. Pretty funny. I like Mike Tyson in it. "This is my favorite part!" Jess and I totally do that every time we listen to that song. The only thing I didn't like is that when they're counting cards, the formulas they run across the screen totally don't have anything to do with it. Lol. It was a movie night since Rebecca's not here and I don't have anything to do. It feels like Friday. It's also pitch black in my apartment with the exception of the tv screen and computer monitor and it feels like an iceberg because it's so cold in here. My poor little toes are gonna fall off.

Wish I were going to San Antonio this weekend. Instead I'm stuck here. Going to see HP with Cody at some point probably since the first try didn't work out so well for him. *cough* I'll probably try to spend some time with Jenbug since I haven't seen her much this week. I've been training Salena to take my place. Sad. I'm down to 2 weeks officially as of tomorrow. Next week I get to watch Missi's cats and apartment-sit for her. Anyone down for a party???

We had a several members from the Arlington Chamber of Commerce come to our office for a ribbon cutting ceremony today. Just one of those shitty pr things you have to do sometimes. I tend to avoid large groups of people so needless to say it's not my cup of tea. I snuck downstairs and sat with Brandy and Sam (? - I think that's his name...) for a while. I was starving so I went back up and stole several sandwiches to bring back down for Brandy and me. So I'm her new favorite person pretty much. Brandy, I know you don't wanna hurt anyone else's feelings or anything, but the truth will come out eventually. Denying it would be a fruitless endeavor.

I bought a hookah this week. Yay!

The End.

Cellar Door

I know, i know. I haven't posted in a while. Not that more than a handful of people read this anyway. But I'm bored enough tonight that I shall. I'm so tired that I don't think I'm actually capable of doing much else. Tonight is going to be one of those couch potato nights. I've actually kept pretty busy lately. My social calendar has been booked solid for the most part. This past weekend I went to Jess's lingerie party. Had a good time. :) Jen and I are great dancers. Haha. This Thursday I'm going out with Jen for her bday. Woohoo! Then Sunday is Jess's wedding. Crazy! Rebecca and I are watching Dirty Dancing. Such a good movie. "And most of all I'm scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I'm with you." Hahaha. On another note, my library is expanding at an exponential rate. I bought a book Friday night and finished it Saturday morning. I felt accomplished. Now we're watching Donnie Darko. Quite the 180, but I absolutely love this movie. It's supposed to be in the 100's all this week. What am I supposed to do with that?

By the way Brandy, you ain't got nothin on me. :) You don't wanna bet against me. Promise.

I need to clean my room, but I really don't want to. It's the one place I allow myself to be messy. At least I compartmentalize it, right? For the most part. Either that or Rebecca cleans up after me and I don't notice. It's a possibility. It's past my bedtime. Laters.

Fired up

So since I'm stuck in graduation for hours on end with nothing to do I decided a blog post was in order. This graduation is in the drum where UT plays basketball so it's super loud and every noise carries. Its also super boring so I keep making jokes and telling mom. They're terrible jokes but she still laughs. That's how I know she loves me. :) But we are having fun trying to pronounce everyones name. Ghetttttooo school. I'm tellin ya. Ally graduated #5 in her class. Beat me by 1. Just had to spite me. In my defense my class was larger. I'm gonna get up and scream when they call Ally's name. don't doubt me. Ill do it. The past day was great after such a stressful week. I love sales but 3 jobs for the price of one is something I will pass up any day. I'm starving. This thing needs to end soon so I can go fill my belly. Haha. My mom has her fingers plugged in her ears. Apparently its a little too loud for her. fire it up!!!

In Memoriam

Let Love clasp Grief lest both be drown'd,
Let darkness keep her raven gloss:

Ah, sweeter to be drunk with loss,
To dance with death, to beat the ground,

Than that the victor Hours should scorn
The long result of love, and boast,
"Behold the man that loved and lost,
But all he was is overworn."

20 years ago 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death at Hillsborough stadium. May the flame burn eternal. RIP fellow fans. YNWA.

Never was so much owed by so many to so few

What a sad day. My boys put up a good fight, but it was just too late. I take comfort in the fact that Chelsea will now have to play Barca. Lol. They will be gloriously defeated.

So recap for today:
- Liverpool 4 - 4 Chelsea
- Cody is gonna get his ass kicked in I-spy
- I'm having to study until my little brain can't take it anymore
- Boo is the best roomie and I love Wuthering Heights
- There is a major downside to having the most comfortable, beautiful bed in the world

Also, old people trying to be act younger is a major annoyance for me. I was sitting at Starbucks trying to study accounting and a couple of old ladies (I use the term old loosely - probably in their 40's) sit down near the table I'm working at. This didn't bother me. They were irritating, but not that bad. I could tune them out. Then about 10 minutes goes by and about 6 other people come waltzing in and join them. There was a huge group of them sitting right in front of me all chattering away. Talking about their lame-ass Camaros and other dumb cars they've had "professional race car drivers work on". If they were actually cool they'd be talking about the new Aston Martin or wouldn't have to say anything at all. Then one of them (a man who looked like he was in his 30's but already balding and who looked like he lived with his mother still) sat back down with a vanilla frappacino and they were all amazed. The fantastically annoying woman who had the race car driver work on her car and who was dressed like a 15-year-old was like "what is that? it's so pretty." And of course he had to make it seem as though it was the best drink in the world and he was an expert on Starbucks drinks. Who flippin cares? No one. Anyway, I finished up the problem I was working on, slammed my books shut, and walked right through them. Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn. I was a little pissed because I had actually been getting some good work done prior to all this. <> Sorry about that. Is it not the weekend yet? Someone wake me when it is.

Welcome the newest member of Al Qaeda.

I hope everyone's Easter's were great. I got to talk to a bunch of people I really don't care about or know very well. Although I did find out that my cousin flirted with the actor that plays Gambit in the new Xmen movie on the set of Friday Night Lights. I thought that was kinda cool. Enough for tonight. Gotta hit the books.

A week in my life

Tuesday night Rebecca and I went out to dinner at Simply Fondue. It was delicious and we ate way too much. It only took us 2 hours though. I was somewhat surprised at that. We also came to the realization that Rebecca was named after a cow. Apparently her mother had a cow named Becky when she was little. Rebecca was being simply brilliant that night. She asked me the question "what if you tipped a negative tip?" I had to think about it for a little. After dinner we went to Half-price books. I ended up buying a Joni Mitchell record and T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. It is hilarious. If you weren't aware, the play Cats was derived from this book. After our trip to half-price books we ventured to Petland and looked at the animals. I want a puppy. I just can't have one right now. We went back to the apartment after this and changed because we smelled like oil. Junior met us at the apartment (and parked in a visitor's spot this time) and the three of us went to see Adventureland. It was an ok movie. Nothing fantastic. Yesterday Missi and I went and got snow cones after work. Then we had our workout and I came home and caught up on Lost. I am really enjoying this season. It may have something to do with the whole time travel thing. Tonight Rebecca and I went to a debate at UTA titled 'The God Dialogues'. It was a debate between two theists and two athiests about the existence of God, the center of morality, trends in anti-intellectualism within the church, etc. Both sides had postulations that did not really make sense in their contexts, but that is also what makes you think for yourself, so it kept me entertained. I missed yoga. I'm going to have to catch up on it tomorrow. Tomorrow is also the Morrissey concert. There's a strong chance we will run into one of Rebecca's ex-boyfriends/wannabe boyfriends. Haha. Midnight margaritas and hot tubbing are soon approaching Missi and I have decided. Anyway, there's not much sense to this post. Just updating to update.

When pigs fly

I think Dan was trying to imply that I'm a pig. Hmm. After work I went over to Missi's and we attempted to do yoga. I really felt like Jason Segel in Forgetting Sarah Marshall when they try to stand on their heads in the yoga session. I left Missi's early though and Junior and I watched X-men origins. Pretty good movie actually. A good soundtrack makes or breaks a movie in my opinion. Night loves.
